He obtained his initial medical education at JIPMER, a premier institution for medical education which draws the best students of India. After graduating in 1983, he continued his studies in Surgery (M.S) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), widely considered one of India’s best teaching hospitals. Having completed studies in general surgery in 1987 he then pursued further specialization in plastic surgery from two of the leading medical institutes in India. He initially trained at AIIMS where he participated in head and neck cancer reconstruction, microsurgery and general reconstructive surgery. He was then selected to undergo an intensive two year full-time residency in plastic surgery at PGIMER, and received a MCh degree in 1992. The MCh is the highest qualification in plastic surgery offered by India and has a board certification in plastic surgery. He then obtained further experience in aesthetic surgery. Dr. Mohan became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow (FRCS) in 1998. He is a member of several national and international professional bodies and has served as invited guest faculty at a number of international conferences. He has over 100 presentations and publications in national and international meetings/journals.
As a plastic surgeon Dr. Mohan is fully trained in all aspects of reconstructive surgery including microsurgery, hand surgery and maxillofacial surgery. He naturally has a keen eye for details and what many describe as skilled hands. He seeks ways to continuously improve his results and push the barriers while simultaneously respecting patient safety. His expertise in reconstructive surgery, wound healing, endoscopic surgery and wide background knowledge of other surgical disciplines makes him a much sought-after surgeon to fix difficult surgical problems.

Dr.Mohan has incorporated or developed advanced techniques that offer safer surgeries with faster recovery and less scar. He is trained in the use of different lasers and Radiofrequency devices. He uses Radiosurgery for all the skin level surgeries with outstanding cosmesis and fast recovery.

Similarly in the field of body correction after massive weight loss, he has an unbroken record of safety for three decades. In breast augmentation he offers normal methods as well as ‘composite augmentation’ in which fat grafting and smaller implants are used to give impressive yet natural results. He offers the latest light weight ‘permanent’ implants as well. In the field of breast reduction he uses shorter scas and own tissue redistribution for more beautiful and stable results. In Gynecomastia he has a ‘stealth technique’ in which the scars disappear. Dr.Mohan is an early user of regenerative techniques where one uses the power of patient’s own fat and stem cells to repair and correct many problems.
