Breast Aesthetics

There are many women who are unhappy with their breasts either because it is too small or too big or is mis-shaped. Some women notice deterioration in shape with age or life situations. Whatever the problem, it may have a very negative impact on a women’s self-esteem. Unfortunately there are no exercises, devices, creams or medications that have any real effect on breast size or shape.

The good news is that plastic surgery of the breast can correct virtually all of these problems. Surgery has reached such a high degree of refinement that almost any type of aesthetic problem can be improved. Small breasts can be enlarged, large breasts can be reduced to a more proportional, comfortable size, sagging and shrinking breasts can be lifted. The rarer deformities like tuberous breasts can also be improved. Further, breasts that have been removed during mastectomy procedures can be totally reconstructed to restore a full, near natural look (see under reconstruction).

Common breast procedures include enlargement [Augmentation], Reduction and lift [mastopexy]. Uncommon procedures include correction of tuberous breasts, congenital absence, asymmetry, removal of extra breast tissue in axilla and correction of nipple anomalies.
